Voip

So, to start this off, let me just inform you that this page has nothing to do with Skype! If you are looking for information on Skype, please visit their website, or better yet, try one of the many other great services provided by companies that don’t try invade your privacy by stealing information.

Now that thats out the way, voip is a technology used to communicate over the internet or local network. It is generally used to make “cheap” phone calls around the world, but also gives users abilities never possible over standard pstn networks.

My interests in voip lies mainly within the protocol stack used to control the data. Its called the sip stack and its defined in rfc3261.
